Why it was recalled

The problem: an injury risk.

NHTSA's defect summary: “Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2020-2026 AA Series Aerial Device, 2021-2026 AN Series Aerial Device, 2023-2026 AM Series Aerial Device, and 2024-2026 Digger Derrick, and 2024-2025 A-Class vehicles. The turntable mounted platform access step may have been improperly welded between the step tube and mounting plate, and allow the step to separate from the vehicle.”

The consequence, according to NHTSA: “A step that separates or becomes unstable while in use, increases the risk of a fall or injury.”
