Why it was recalled

The problem: a fire risk.

NHTSA's defect summary: “Cummins, Inc. (Cummins) is recalling certain L9 diesel engines, part number D563027BX03. The remote fuel filter hoses may separate from the fitting, causing a fuel leak and an engine stall.”

The consequence, according to NHTSA: “A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.”

What to do

NHTSA: “Dealers will replace the fuel hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 20, 2026. Owners may contact Cummins customer service at 1-800-286-6467. Cummins number for this recall is C7311. Engines remedied under Recalls 23E055, 24E038, or 25E004 will need to have the new redesigned parts installed.”
