Why it was recalled
The problem: a fire risk.
NHTSA's defect summary: “The Heil Co. (Heil) is recalling certain CNG tailgate ladder kits sold as replacement parts, installed on Heil CNG front loader vehicles only. An incorrect bolt may have been installed in one of the ladder legs, allowing it to contact and damage the CNG cylinders.”
The consequence, according to NHTSA: “A damaged CNG tank can leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire.”
