Why it was recalled
The problem: a crash risk.
NHTSA's defect summary: “Motor Coach Industries (MCI) is recalling certain 2018-2026 buses. Please see the complete list of models above. The instrument panel indicator light may not illuminate when the hazard warning lights are on and the master run switch is in the 'Off' position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."”
The consequence, according to NHTSA: “Without the illuminated reminder, the driver may fail to turn off the exterior lights when no longer needed. Hazard warning lights that remain activated unintentionally can confuse other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.”
What to do
NHTSA: “MCI will update the software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 24, 2026. Owners may contact MCI customer service at 1-800-241-2947.”
